Italian-Inspired Spice Mix

Italian Spices, create your favorite blend for sauces, soups, and sausage. Oregano, basil, garlic, onion, bay leaf, salt, pepper, sage, thyme, parsley, crushed red pepper, cayenne pepper, fennel seed. Diet and budget friendly

Italian flavor is a big crowd-pleaser from kids to grown ups.  It’s also pleasing to make, because the home cook can get creative and have a lot of fun designing the perfect sauce.  It’s all based on personal taste, so it seems like no two recipes are the same!  And that’s alright, because there is no right or wrong flavor, just what makes your family happy.

The spice mix ingredients below are basic guidelines.  Feel free to go crazy and add more basil, for example, if you really love basil.  Following the basic list are optional popular ingredients.  You could add them all or none.  It doesn’t matter how many or which ones, it won’t “break” the sauce.

Meal recipes follow for ideas on how to use the spice mix.  But you can use it for anything you would like to have an Italian flavor.
